At Bai Di Cheng

The food for the day

My 2nd day is filled with nothing but mountains and water everywhere.
We get to eat our breakfast as early as 7:30am in the shaky ship.
The menu for breakfast is:
· Plain buns
· Plain porridge
· Roasted Peanuts
· Veggies
· Hard-Boiled eggs
· Soya bean drink
I love their soya bean drink! They tasted very different from Singapore. In Singapore, the soya bean drink tasted sweeter and thicker while in Hubei, they tasted like green bean soup and very much thinner. But whatever it is, both soya bean drinks in different countries taste great!
Around 2 hours later, we have been ‘downgrade’ to raft to visit the 3 Gorges after transferring from Silvermoon cruise to Sanxia boat.
Sitting in the raft to the 3 Gorges is the most unforgettable experience in these 4 days. It is a wonderful ride except for the unexpected event. Mr Wee, Baohui, Carmen and I sat on the other raft. No. 7 while the rest of them sat in raft no. 8 as there are not enough seats for us. We sat there quietly. Ludicrously, a few of the aunties behind suddenly shouted at us and told us to get out of the raft. They thought that we weren’t supposed to be in the raft since 2 her group mates were not on the raft. They sounded very firmly that we should be in other raft. Just before the heat argument between us going to break out, one of the tour guides appeared and asked her separated tour group members to join them. The scene was really funny.

Back to topic, the ride is splendid. I touched the water with my bare hands. The running water was surprisingly very cooling and the wind breezing through my hair. The sceneries are really beautiful. I thought seeing mountains and lakes, which is impossible to be seen in Singapore, would be very boring, but when I sat on the raft, it is a totally different experience. The sceneries are very beautiful. Our Sanxia tour guide is very friendly and sang her traditional song about a man to wooing lady he likes for us (due to high demand from other members in the raft). Interestingly, She mentioned that “older woman and young man” love is actually started in Shen Nong Xi before it become a famous trend type of love. I didn’t manage to ask any questions as many tourists were asking her.

I don’t have the time to buy a gift there due to the delay. We left the raft and need to rush to our previous ship. We stayed in the lower cabin as it is warmer and more comfortable than the upper cabin.

At around 4pm, we reached Bai Di Cheng where we need to climb 300 steps of stairs in order to reach Bai Di Temple. I kept panting after I climbed about 100 steps. It was very tiring. For this trip, it is introduce us about the three kingdoms where Liu Bei have already become a king and his statue, together with Zhu Ge Liang and Zhang Fei, were to be offered in the Bai Di Temple. The tour guide spoke too fast and I could only catch the part the types of offerings for the king in Bai Di Cheng. They are the Pomelo, which weigh 9kg, Comb and tea leaves. All of the items have significant meanings before the commoners decided to send the offerings to the king then.
At about 6pm, we walk back from the temple and have our dinner at 7:30pm.

At around 8pm, girls from REB and guys from CEE come to our room and started to have our chit chat session. Mr Wee joined us later. He talked about the trips he go with his family, and how they enjoy shopping and travelling around the country. I am pretty wowed by Natasha, his daughter, who is able to travel around the world at this young age. I wonder how many types of food she has not tried.
